Computerisation has revolutionized the way the printed word is captured, stored and transmitted.  It as facilitated quicker and more creative ways of sharing information.  The computer has become an indispensible tool in the world of work. The information age has made the ability to use the computer a fundamental skills for prospective business employees in the fields of data management and document preparation.  The extensive use of this skill in human interaction makes it into an important life. Skill.

Students targeting opportunities in the world of work or opportunities for further studies must be competent and proficient in managing the resources of document preparation, that is, data,  computer software and computer hardware, to produce documents of the quality and standard required in the 21st century world of business.

The electronic Document Preparation and Management syllabus is designed to equip students with knowledge and skills for jobs such as clerical assistants, administrative assistants and reception assistants.  The knowledge gained from this syllabus will foster growth and development.  Further, it will enhance decision-making capabilities and cultivate a disciplined and ethical workforce.

The syllabus aims to:

  • develop an appreciation of the importance of technology in a modern office environment;
  • equip graduates with the requisite skills to assume clerical and administrative support roles;
  • lay the foundation for career development and advancement in a business environment;
  • develop skills for secondary and post-secondary studies; and future careers;
  • foster disciplined and ethical behaviours associated with the work environment;
  • develop effective documents management capabilities;
  • develop knowledge and skills useful for specialised training in fields related to electronic documents preparation and management;
  • enhance the quality of life and foster personal growth and development.
