Introduction
The
National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX)The NCLEX
Examination is a computerized adaptive test for licensure
examinations nationwide. Under the guidance of its membership,
the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. has
developed two licensure examinations, the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN.
These two examinations are used by Boards of Nursing to
test the entry-level nursing competence of candidates for
licensure as Registered Nurses and as Licensed Practical/Vocational
Nurses.
The
NCLEX Examination is used to determine entry-level nursing
competency, and is administered by the National Council
of State Boards of Nursing.
Structure
The NCLEX is a computer-adaptive, multiple-choice test organized
into four "client needs" sections:
- Physiological
Integrity
- Health
Promotion and Maintenance
- Safe,
Effective Care Environment
- Psychosocial
Integrity
