Introduction
The Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) uses
a six point grading system to assess students performances
throughout the Caribbean. These performances are then used
by universities and other tertiary institutions to make
admission decisions on prospective students. CXC Examinations
are not the only criteria for acceptance to university.
Included in the admission decision are student results from
the CAPE Examinations.
The following are the islands and countries that participate
in the CSEC Examinations:
The Participating Territories are: Anguilla, Antigua and
Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Cayman
Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat,
St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines,
Trinidad & Tobago and Turks & Caicos Islands
CXC examinations are accepted regionally and internationally
and grades are acieved through a series of school based
assessments and final exams. Subject examined at this level
include Agricultural Science, Office Procedures, Principles
of Accounts, Principles of Business, Short Hand and Typed
Transcription, Typing, Clothing and Textiles, Food and Nutrition,
Home Economics Management, Caribbean History, English A,
English B, Geography, Religious Education, Social Studies,
Electricity/Electronics, Metals, Technical Drawing, Woods,
Building Technolgy, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Engineering
Technology, Information Technology, Spanish, French, Biology,
Chemistry, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Physics, Visual
Arts and Music.
